Velocity Modern Classics has added a 1967 Mustang Fastback to its line-up of modernized classics. Since its release in 1967, the Ford Mustang Fastback has been a prize among the many iconic American muscle cars including the Chevrolet Camaro and Plymouth Barracuda. Velocity Modern Classics aims to reignite that American muscle car passion by outfitting the 1967 Mustang with up-to-date technology and modern amenities, while also capturing the essence of what made Ford’s 1967 Mustang a timeless classic.

Velocity’s mission with the Mustang Fastback, as well as its other modernized classics, is to blend nostalgia with modern performance. Alongside Velocity’s previous projects in their Signature Series including the classic Bronco, F-250, F-100, and Blazer, the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback joins the Signature Series as the fifth vehicle in the collection. Velocity Modern Classics CEO Jeremy Hans says the team over at Velocity has worked countless hours to produce a modernized classic that doesn’t stray from the original icon’s aesthetic while providing safety and modern amenities that make the Mustang Fastback great.

The Ford Mustang Fastback Is A Legendary Muscle Car

Compared to the original 1967 Ford Mustang, the Signature Series Mustang Fastback by Velocity takes the classic a step further, not only in the performance department but in the quality and features it provides. The original 1967 model from Ford featured a 4.7-liter featured 428 Cobra Le Mans V-8 engine that made 355 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, very impressive for a classic muscle car. Poised as the answer to the Chevrolet Corvair, the 1967 Ford Mustang exceeded expectations upon its original release and has remained near the top spot of muscle car collectors' and enthusiasts’ lists since.

The Signature Series Mustang Fastback by Velocity features a Gen III Coyote 5.0-liter V-8 engine. With a higher displacement than the original Super Cobra 4.7-liter engine of 1967, the 5.0-liter mill puts out 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The Mustang Fastback by Velocity also offers the option between a ten-speed 10R80 automatic transmission and a T-56 six-speed manual transmission, for ultimate control.

Along with the already stout drivetrain, the Fastback by Velocity includes custom headers, rock-and-pinion power steering, Roadster Shop SPEC chassis, front sway bars, and independent SPEC front suspension for a highly responsive driving experience. Custom stainless exhaust and Borla mufflers give this Mustang Fastback an aggressive tone while adding cosmetic value to the appearance.

Velocity Signature Ford Mustang Modern Upgrades:

  • Gen III Coyote 5.0-liter V-8 engine
  • Roadster Shop chasis
  • 10R80 automatic/T-56 manual transmission options
  • Borla mufflers
  • Performance brakes, wheel, and tires
  • Custom headers
  • Custom exhaust

17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/45 ZR17 Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires add to the control and performance of the vehicle, ensuring it cruises the streets in style and comfort, and breaks other racer’s spirits on the track. Along with the performance tires, the Fastback by Velocity also features Baer four-position calipers with 11-inch rotors and Bosch Electric iBooster, allowing the classic muscle car to stop on a dime.

For those looking to increase the power output of the Mustang Fastback, an optional upgrade to the Sport Series trim should scratch the itch. Boasting an upgraded carbon fiber driveshaft, two-way adjustable Fox coilovers, and larger Forgeline wheels, the Street Series Package pushes the Mustang Fastback by Velocity to its limits by featuring some of its best tech and mechanical elements inside and out.

Because the Mustang Fastback by Velocity is made to order and has yet to be comprehensively field tested and charted, there is little public knowledge of 0-60 MPH times and EPA fuel economy. Be that as it may, the original 1967 Ford Mustang and Shelby GT500 are similar to the Mustang Fastback by Velocity, and fortunately for enthusiasts, testing has been extensive on the classic muscle cars since their introduction.

The Shelby GT500 is able to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 6.5-seconds and can complete a quarter-mile in 13.6-seconds, competitive times even when compared to the classic Corvette Stingray. Reliable sources and actual owners report the 1967 Ford Mustang gets 9-12 combined MPG, though the official EPA numbers for the Fastback by Velocity aren’t available at this time.
