The automotive world is buzzing with anticipation as Ford, a powerhouse in the truck market, prepares to electrify its iconic Ranger with the upcoming Ranger Lightning. Building on the electrifying success of the F-150 Lightning, Ford aims to strike twice with a fully electric compact pickup truck.

Ford's dominance in the U.S. pickup truck arena and its remarkable growth in the electric vehicle market have set the stage for a game-changing fusion. The F-150 Lightning's overwhelming demand, evidenced by a staggering 200,000 pre-orders before production began, illustrates the hunger for electric pickups. Enter the Ford Ranger Lightning, a strategic move to electrify one of Ford's best-selling models, opening the door to broader accessibility for EV pickups.

We've created a few renderings of what this super EV could look like in 2025 or 2026 and are excited to share them with you. The all-new Ranger Lightning could be Ford's secret weapon, from sleek exterior features to stunning interiors.

Here's What Our Version Of The All-New Ranger Lightning Looks Like

  • Our renderings show a much sleeker, F-150-inspired Ranger Lightning.
  • This EV could boast a more elegant design than current gas-powered Ranger models.

Although there are countless versions of what could be for the 2025 Ford Ranger Lightning EV, we've decided to put our TopSpeed spin on things. With Ford gearing up for a dominating electric lineup come 2026, the Ranger Lightning will be the perfect addition to an already iconic and successful electric truck family. However, up until now, we haven't seen many photos or spec details regarding this new truck, so we've created some renderings to give you an idea of what could happen.

Of course, The Ranger Lightning EV will likely follow the appearance of the F-150 Lightning, with a large front grill, modern headlamps, a large bed, and a sleek interior cabin. The Ranger, however, should be less bulky than the F-150 Lightning, taking on a more defined, everyday look for drivers. After all, not every Ford truck owner wants such a massive vehicle but would still appreciate a pickup's ruggedness and cargo room.

With production starting sometime in 2024, we'd expect Ford to leak some official rendering of the all-new electric Ranger. The Ford Ranger series has been met with positive feedback, especially as this truck is one of the cheapest. For instance, the 2024 Ranger has a starting price of roughly $32,000, a steal, versus the F-150 Lightning, which is almost $50,000.

Ford Will Start Production On The Ranger Lightning Sometime Next Year

  • The Ranger Lightning EV will be manufactured in the all-new EV plant in Stanton, TN.
  • Here, Ford will build batteries, assemble vehicles, and recycle used battery packs.

The new Ranger Lightning will be produced at Ford's all-new electric vehicle center in Stanton, TN, called Blue Oval City. This all-new complex will include EV assembly, battery manufacturing, and battery recycling. Additionally, batteries will be produced and recycled at two plants that Ford will operate in partnership with SK Innovation. This facility is designed to run on 100 percent renewable energy with zero waste in landfills and is expected to create 11,000 new jobs in the region.

On top of that, Jim Farley, Ford's president and CEO, said, "We're already pushing dirt down in Blue Oval City in Tennessee for another electric pickup truck different from this one." That different truck will be the new Ranger Lightning. We could expect this reimagined EV truck to retail closer to $35,000 if current pricing stays strong, and hopefully 300-400 miles per full charge. After all, most electric vehicle owners prefer long-range driving capability, especially in the pickup truck market. Load size and weight will affect battery life and performance like a gas-powered vehicle, so Ford needs to step it up to stay on top. We also hope they take not from our renderings, considering this version of the Ranger is the sexiest it has ever been.
