2022 Monterey Car Week has been pretty impressive with the debut of the DeLorean Alpha5 EV, Acura’s new ARX-06 race car, Precision EV Concept, Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster, Dodge Hornet, and an unexpected entry of Lincoln’s outrageous EV concept. This futuristic EV in the fastback style is unlike anything we've seen from the brand before, and it is a sign that Lincoln is investing a lot of resources to sustain itself in the future. Finally, meet the Model L100 Concept that brings flamboyant design in a sleek form factor and pays homage to the original Model L1 from 1922.

Is this the end of Cadillac Celestiq?

Lincoln has been known for its luxury since its genesis, and 2022 marks its 100th anniversary after Ford’s takeover. However, the Model L100 Concept is heavily inspired by Lincoln’s first car, the Model L, from 1922. Unlike Cadillac’s ultra-luxurious Celestiq, the Model L100 Concept will remain a concept. Still, Lincoln might add a luxury-oriented saloon car to its lineup to give tough competition to Cadillac and even the Rolls-Royce Spectre.

With the Model L100, Lincoln is stressing the idea of Personal Mobility, and the brand is taking forward its Quiet Flight design philosophy which will, in time, be the ‘ultimate vehicle sanctuary.’ As a result, the Model L100 Concept looks long and sleek, with utmost aerodynamic efficiency. In addition, the stylish LED light bar that stretches across the front fenders, and the illuminated Lincoln logo, give the front end an out-of-this-world look. Not to forget, there are two massive suicide doors on the sides, and since the concept is imagined to have a supercar-like stance, but for four passengers, the roof raises like that of a fighter jet for easier ingress.

If you are familiar with Lincoln cars, you know about its signature Lincoln Embrace. However, with the Model L100 Concept, Lincoln has taken it to another level. Upon approaching the vehicle, the light symphony will follow you around with the help of sensors and artificial intelligence for a more enriching welcome inside the beautiful cabin.

Lincoln envisions a far-off future with fully-autonomous mobility

While the exterior of the Model L100 is such a beauty with a lot of curves, the cabin is something that becomes a little weird when you see it up close. For example, there is no steering wheel, nor are there any paddles or buttons. Nevertheless, Lincoln boasts that the Model L100 is the brand’s take on future mobility as it is fully autonomous. In addition, the center console includes a chessboard display, and the front seats can rotate, so you can face the rear passengers while the car is driving on its own. The chief design officer of Ford Motor Company, Anthony Lo, has stated, “with the Model L100, we were to push the boundaries in ways that evolve our Quiet Flight brand DNA and change the way we think about Lincoln designs of tomorrow.” He also mentioned how concept vehicles allow the company to rediscover and reimagine the possibilities of future cars. The Model L100 Concept proves that both Ford and Lincoln are trying their best to make it up for the once lost thing: fame.
