Ford has been the company dropping several bombs on us for the last several months. The upcoming hybrid Mustang, the F-150 Lightning, not to mention all the rest of the electrification that will be happening to the Blue Ovals product lineup. Ford's luxury arm is finally looking to make some significant moves towards electrification. So far, everything we have seen has just been quoted from sly dog Ford CEO, Jim Farlely, and digital renderings of what Lincoln hopes their future EV models will look like.

Jim Farley says Cadillac EVs have nothing on Lincoln EVs

Judging by the success Lincoln had the last time it refreshed its lineup with the release of the current Aviator, Navigator, Corsair, and Continental, we think that Lincoln can pull off something similar if they can get their EV feet beneath them.

Anyway, Farley is rather confident in Lincoln's future electric endeavors, as he told Newsweek, "the second inning of the nine-inning game, where Lincoln is now entering, will be much more advanced...We wouldn't do the product that Cadillac is showing . We wouldn't do it. Nothing against them, it just doesn't fit our brand. It's not far enough. It has a traditional hood, looks a lot like an ICE product... We want people to feel that electric excitement."

This is a particularly bold claim since Lincoln has not officially announced any future EVs (though they plan for four EVs to be released by 2026) and the brand's lineup is aging rapidly as it is and is desperate for a refresh.

Also, notice how Farley shoots on the Lyriq's more traditional shape, calling out the front end that looks like it could carry an ICE. Now, look at the recent Lincoln renders. Do they not also look like they could carry a fire-breathing V-8?

The "electric excitement" Farley is talking about is the same kind of excitement we all felt a decade ago when the Tesla Model S proved that EVs could work in the first place. He wants us all to be fawning over future Lincoln EVs as if they are total game changers, we'll see about that.

What do we expect future Lincoln EVs to be like?

Despite Lincoln's renderings having a more traditional shape, and they are just renderings, the actual production models may not look like a 'normal' car or SUV at all.

Think more along the lines of the Nissan Ariya, a massive jelly bean on wheels. Hopefully, Lincoln will be able to make it a bit more dramatic. Hopefully, something like the L100 concept, a massive luxury 4-seat coupe.

That kind of car is wildly out of style nowadays, but since it will not be chugging gasoline, a couple dozen people could give it the benefit of the doubt.
