It's pretty clear Christian von Koenigsegg wants to build the fastest cars on the planet. He and his team have been chasing speed for years, routinely pushing the limits and developing new technologies. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, and with his latest generation of hypercars, Koenigsegg has reached truly unbelievable speeds. Not so long ago, if you built a car that could crack 200 miles per hour while looking exotic, you were really something special.

Nowadays, though, that isn't good enough. 300 miles per hour is the newest hypercar goal. While a small few have dipped into the 300s under exceptional circumstances, it hasn't yet become a mainstream number. Koenigsegg might just have the solution for this very first-world problem. Currently, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolute (Koenigsegg's theoretical fastest car) has not been tested at the limit, but Christian says that may happen at some point, and it appears the results may shock the world.

Koenigsegg has been building supercars since 1994 and brought out his first car in 2000, called the CC8S. That car was powered by a 4.6 liter Ford V-8 with 655 horsepower. An impressive figure for the time but even more impressive was its performance stats: zero to sixty in 3.5 seconds, a quarter mile time of just 10 seconds, and a top speed of 240 miles per hour.

These numbers were unbelievably impressive for the time, especially for a brand-new supercar builder. To this day, Koenigsegg has never produced a car that didn't crush the 200-mile-per-hour mark. Here are 15 of Koenigsegg's fastest creations.

Looking at data from Koenigsegg, MotorTrend, Car and Driver, Hagerty, SuperCars.net, and Road and Track, we have compiled a list of the fastest cars by comparing the top speed of each individual supercar.

Updated on July 16, 2023: Over the decades, numerous supercars have come and gone that have gained a place in our hearts, so we have decided to refresh and update this list. That means instead of burying this one into the endless articles lost to the internet, the original ten Koenigsegg supercars and a few new ones can be found below to help expand your knowledge.

15 Koenigsegg CCR

Top Speed: 241 MPH

Due to the refresh of this list, the Koenigsegg CCR gains a spot in last place. The Ford-based 4.7-liter engine V-8 can push the car from a complete standstill to 100 MPH in under 7 seconds. When the CCR gets about 65 feet from the starting point, the decibel levels of the car reach about 86 dB, which is equal to a lawn mower.

The Lysholm supercharger, designed using a Lysholm Twin-Screw Compressor system, gave the 4.7-liter engine a considerable boost in performance, creating a way for the engine to produce power at low RPMs, which is usually a problem for supercharger systems. When you add the rest of the upgrades and additions, you have a car that can burn up any track in the world.

14 Koenigsegg CCX

Top Speed: 245 MPH

The third-generation Koenigsegg supercar was the first to take advantage of some of the innovative technology that modern carmakers use on a daily basis today. Instead of cutting the concept car out of clay and molding it into shape, the car was designed in a 3D program and cut by CNC machines. Changes were made to appeal more to the American market, including a larger cockpit and a fully digital dash.

The Koenigsegg CCX was the first car produced by the company that did not use a Ford-based engine. The completely designed and built Koenigsegg engine pushed out around 800 horses when it was all put together, with a ground-pounding torque of almost 700 pound-feet. All fed out to the rear-wheel drive tires through a six-speed manual transmission.

13 Koenigsegg CCGT

Top Speed: 245 MPH

One of the most unsung heroes of the Koenigsegg lineup is the CCGT racecar. It was a two-year side project solely in the works to give the brand a foothold on the track. The rules to race on famous tracks such as the LeMans are clear, so every detail was followed to ensure that the CCGT passed the inspections.

Passing inspections is not all that it was about, though. The people at Koenigsegg wanted to take the checkered flag with the new racecar into which they had put so much blood, sweat, and tears. Unfortunately, due to a sudden change to a rule that required the company to make at least 350 road-legal versions of the car to compete on a sanctioned track, the Koenigsegg CCGT was retired before it could even race once.

Known as their first "flower power" car, Koenigsegg implemented a flex-fuel approach to the mighty CCX. The CCXR, when running bio-friendly E85 fuel, produced 1018 horsepower from its 4.7 liter V-8 engine. The CCXR might not be the newest Koenigsegg model, but it can sure hold its own in a battle for speed.

Agera, meaning "to take action" in Swedish, tells its story even before the engine is started. Sometimes the least visually loud one is the most impressive. No extra letters or special editions here, just Koenigsegg at its best. Gone is the manual transmission, with the seven-speed dual-clutch auto in it's place.

Agera features Koenigseggs new architecture, body, and even vortex-generating wheels that create a positive airflow from under the car and wheel wells to help cool the brakes as well as manage air pressure.

10 Koenigsegg Gemera

Innovation is strong at Koenigsegg, and the Gemera is proof. Using just a tiny three-cylinder engine weighing only 155 pounds along with a three-motor electric hybrid system, the Koenigsegg Gemera achieves a massive 1,700 horsepower and 2,583 pound-feet of torque. Don't blink because this helps propel the four-seat Koenigsegg to 60 miles per hour in just 1.9 seconds on its way to a terminal velocity of 249 miles per hour.

A technological mindbender. For this super high-speed luxury special labeled as a "luxury menacer," Koenigsegg developed a trick single-speed transmission system called "direct drive." The hybrid hypercar is so powerful and has such an impressive power-to-weight ratio that a single ratio between the engine and the wheels is all that is necessary to propel the Regera to its top speed of just over 250 MPH.

It's not for gasoline fumes, but instead to radiate heat produced by its electrical system inverter. The Regera is an engineering wonder. Its massive top speed is a testament to the engineering genius of Koenigsegg.

8 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita

Top Speed: 254 MPH

Perhaps one of the rarest Koenigsegg to date is the CCXR Trevita. When carbon fiber was first introduced for use, the only way it could be used was as black. The people working for Christian discovered a new way to make carbon fiber. A better way that also created a carbon fiber that came out of the process white, hence the name Trevita which means "three whites" in Swedish.

Under the hood was a Koenigsegg-designed and built engine, with not one but two superchargers bolted on. The aluminum block helped keep the engine cool when it was being pushed to its redline limits, but as all soft metals are prone to it, the block was also more apt to crack and warp when used at high speeds or when pushed to its limits.

It seems Koenigsegg can't produce anything but an impressive speed weapon. In fact, Koenigsegg has never made a car that hasn't been capable of reaching over 200 miles per hour. Their very first car, the CC8S, reached 242 miles per hour, eclipsing nearly every other vehicle, including the famous record holder, the McLaren F1, at 241 miles per hour.

With the Agera models, things were turned up a notch, reaching four-digit horsepower figures and rocking the world with near 250 mile per hour speeds. Every mile per hour counts at this level, and so does each mile of road, as you'll be covering substantial distances at these speeds. Agera S caters to markets that don't offer E85 fuels as options by optimizing the gasoline-powered engine to be as aggressive as the E85-powered Agera R.

At this point, Christian Von Koenigsegg is just trolling the industry. One megawatt of power equals a power-to-weight ratio that equals one horsepower per kilogram or a perfect 1:1 ratio. The final horsepower of 1,360 equals one megawatt of power, an incredible feat in an ICE V-8 road car. This is how the car got its name.

The 0ne:1 is an exercise in balancing lightweight with power. Based on an Agera, this all-motor special is what happens when you take an already light car, lighten it again, and add some power just for good measure. Koenigsegg employed a new 3D-printed turbo design to push innovation while chasing top speed. The result is a massive top speed of 273 miles per hour.

The Koenigsegg CC850 has a unique transmission system, the Engage Shift System (ESS), based on the Light Speed Transmission found in the Jensko. How it works is simple. It is a nine-speed fast-shift automatic transmission, but unlike the Jensko, it has a manual clutch on the floor next to the brake so the driver can adjust the gear ratios while the automatic shifter slams through them.

For the Jesko models, Christian wanted both a high downforce car (Jesko) and a model aimed purely at straight-line speed (Jesko Absolute). Amazingly even though it's not meant for all-out speed, the Jesko is still the second-fastest car to ever come from Koenigsegg. If the vehicle is eventually tested and hits its estimated top speed, that would make the Jesko faster than the Bugatti Chiron (Super Sport 300+).

1 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

Estimated Top Speed: 330+ MPH

300 miles per hour! This, amazingly, isn't the final goal speed of the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut. Christian reckons the car will do at least 330 and possibly up to 350 miles per hour, making it the fastest production car ever. We are talking about cruising speeds faster than some private luxury aircraft. The "absolute" in Jesko Absolut is meant to signify one of, if not the "absolute" final answer in automotive speed.
