After what felt like an eternity, Yamaha has finally brought the updated Tenere 700 to America as part of its 2024 lineup. It continues to serve duty as Team Blue’s dedicated off-road adventure bike, but now comes loaded with extra bits to enhance your experience. To make matters sweeter, the MSRP hasn’t gone up by much, either. Let’s dive in.
What’s New On The 2024 Yamaha Tenere 700
Since its inception, the T7 has had a bare-bones cockpit with an LCD instrument cluster. It felt quite dated in the era of the TFTs, and you’d be happy to know Team Blue has fixed it for good. The Tenere ditches its LCD in favor of a five-inch TFT instrument cluster. Layout still remains vertical, but you now get two different view modes, namely Street and Explore. The former arranges the data conventionally (with analog-like dials) while the latter features a vertical tachometer to help you monitor the powerband.
In addition, the TFT also brings with it Bluetooth connectivity. Just open the Yamaha MyRide app on your phone, connect the TFT, and it’ll display your phone notifications on the dash. You can also track the route taken, distance covered, acceleration, top speed, and elevation changes. It also allows you to notify your dealership in case of a breakdown, but we hope you don’t see that day.
Besides the TFT, Yamaha has equipped the new T7 with three ABS modes in the name of electronics. Full ON, Front wheel ON rear wheel OFF, and Full OFF are the three options, which should be handy for new as well as experienced riders. LED turn signals and a USB socket round off the updates.
What’s Unchanged On The 2024 Yamaha Tenere 700
Under its skin, the ADV continues with last year’s cycle parts. The centerpiece is a 690cc, twin-cylinder engine, housed inside a motocross-like double-cradle chassis. With 72 horsepower and 49 pound-feet, there’s enough grunt for proper off-road fun and the 452-pound curb weight only amps things. While at it, you’d also appreciate the 8.3-inch travel for the KYB forks and the 7.9-inch travel for the remote-adjustable monoshock. All this, along with the brakes (Two 282 mm rotors/245 mm rotor) and wheels (21/18-inch spokes; F/R), are all the same as the outgoing model.
The 2024 Yamaha Tenere 700 Costs Just $300 More Than Before
For all the updates, the Tenere 700 will set you back by $10,799, just $300 more than the ‘23 model. That’s a well-justified bump in our opinion which doesn’t harm the ADV’s value for the money. However, the price bump does take it closer to its better-equipped and more powerful rivals like the $11,349 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE and the $12,299 Aprilia Tuareg 660.
