The middleweight adventure bike segment is a competitive place to be in. And just when we thought it couldn’t get hotter, CFMoto has taken the wraps off its new 2023 700MT. The adventure tourer takes heavy inspiration from the company’s existing 650MT (called 650 Adventura in America) but boasts upgrades across the board. These are aimed to give it a better fighting chance against its arch-rival, the Kawasaki Versys 650.

The 2023 CFMoto 700MT Has A 693cc, Twin-Cylinder Engine

Right off the bat, the 700MT backs up its name with a new 693cc, twin-cylinder engine–an up-sized version of the 650MT’s powerhouse. With an extra 44cc to displace, the new ADV produces 66 horsepower (at 6,000 RPM) and 44 pound-feet (at 7,250 RPM) which is a 10-pony and 4-pound-feet bump over its smaller sibling. More importantly, this is right on par with the Kawasaki Versys 650’s 66 horsepower and 44 pound-feet output.

The engine sends its power via a six-speed transmission and comes nestled in a chromoly-steel-tube chassis. The latter relies on 43 mm upside-down forks and an off-set monoshock for ironing out bumps, while 17-inch alloy wheels play the sidekicks. These wheels come wrapped in Pirelli rubber, so you should have enough grip for some canyon carving fun. Concurrently, braking prowess comes from 300 mm front discs and a 240 mm rear disc, both with J.Juan calipers (a subsidiary of Brembo). You’ll need all this too, thanks to the 480-pound curb weight.

The 2023 CFMoto 700MT Is Ripe With Features

Next up, let’s talk features. CFMoto has equipped its adventure bike with a five-inch TFT display that shows all necessary information and lets you toggle through the two ride modes (Eco and Sport). You also get two charging ports (type A and type C), an adjustable windscreen, dual-channel ABS, and all-LED lights to round off the likable package. That being said, the absence of smartphone connectivity and traction control seems like a missed opportunity since the Kawasaki ADV has both of these as standard.

As for design, the 700MT appears identical to the 650MT from afar. But a closer look reveals sharper bodywork all around, complete with new fairings, fenders, radiator shrouds, and even a brawnier fuel tank. Same goes for the V-shaped headlight that appears sleeker and more premium than the 650. There are two colors to pick from–Nebula White and Nebula Black–where the latter has bronze wheels. Both come with a dual-tone saddle too, which seats you at 840 mm above the ground.

The CFMoto 700MT Could Debut In America Soon

Soon after its Chinese debut, the 700MT has already been launched in Europe and Britain. So it’s only fair we expect CFMoto to launch it in America soon, probably renamed to 700 Adventura. Once here, the motorcycle will likely cost around $7,500–around $700 more than the 650 Adventura’s MSRP. Would you consider buying it at this price? Let us know in the comments.
