When it comes to the bike’s design, the guys from Tamarit gave it their best. The front of the ‘Missile’ features a fairing reminiscent of classic race bikes. The fuel tank was “borrowed” from a Triumph Speed Twin to give it a more fluent look, and it got a custom-made seat that doesn’t “brake” the line, so it fits perfectly with the shape of the motorcycle.

To give it a sleek and elegant look, the bike has a Scrambler 1200 XE’s swingarm. While it was another thing done purely out of aesthetic needs, it seems that this new swingarm enhances the bike’s stability while, at the same time, reducing the overall weight. It effectively lengthens the ‘Missile’ by about 10.5 inches.

The whole bike, except the front fairing and the fuel tank, was chrome-plated. It took a lot of work hours to do that. Rims, brake calipers, bolts, oversized sump guard, and exhaust pipes are chromed. All this chrome plating, besides having mainly a design purpose gives it an extra layer of protection against corrosion, making it more durable. All this chrome paired with the black gives the ‘Missile’ the smooth and distinguished look a proper old-school racer should have.

The most important component would be the engine since it is one of the few things they kept from an original Thruxton 1200 R. It is a 1200cc parallel-twin that pushes out 97 horsepower and 83 foot-pounds of torque. Lots of grunt which is delivered in a refined way. To get the best from Thruxton’s engine, Tamarit installed a high-flow air filter kit from a company called Free Spirits. On top of that, a new stainless steel exhaust from Zard, was also mounted.

These weren’t the only parts that were outsourced. The rear mono-shock absorber is an STX 46 from Öhlins. It features a hydraulic preload adjuster, black spring, custom black preload handle, and CNC machined aluminum handle. The front fork has an Öhlins Custom 48 Blackline. Interestingly, this custom bike features a steering damper, also from Öhlins. The wheels are from Canyon Motorcycles, lighter than standard Triumph ones, and CNC machined from aluminum. The tires are Pirelli’s Diablo Rosso IV Corsas.

How Do You Get Your Hands On The ‘Missile’?

This is the bad news. You can’t. This motorcycle was done as a one-off project for a special client. It is probably running through the corners of Californian roads as you are reading this. That is where it ended up. What you can do is ask the nice people from Tamarit Motorcycles to make you a special, also one-off bike. Just be careful, they only work with Triumphs… such a shame.
